James A. Michener

James A. Michener (1907–1997) was an American author known for his epic, detailed historical novels and fictional family sagas set in specific geographic locales. He was a prolific writer who extensively researched his subjects and traveled widely to authentically portray the cultures and histories in his works. Michener won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1948 and received numerous honors including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977.
