Thomas Hardy

Thomas Hardy was an English author and poet born in 1840 in Dorset. He gained fame for his novels set in the semi-fictional region of Wessex, often portraying tragic characters struggling against their passions and social circumstances. Hardy initially wrote novels for financial gain but regarded himself primarily as a poet.
