Owen Wister

Owen Wister (1860–1938) was an American writer and historian, considered the "father" of western fiction. He is best known for his novel The Virginian and for writing biographies including one of Ulysses S. Grant. Wister's later work focused on biographies of prominent American figures such as Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, and George Washington.
