John Le Carré
John le Carré is the pen name of David John Moore Cornwell, born on 19 October 1931 in Poole, Dorset. He was educated at Sherborne School, the University of Bern, and Lincoln College, Oxford, graduating with first-class honours in Modern Languages. Le Carré was a former intelligence officer who became a full-time author, renowned for his espionage novels featuring the character George Smiley.
