James Baldwin

James Baldwin (1841–1925) was an American educator and administrator who became a prolific textbook editor and children's author. He specialized in legends, mythology, biography, and literature, writing over thirty books and retelling classical stories for young readers. He served as superintendent of Indiana's school system for 18 years and was a major figure in educational publishing at the turn of the 20th century.
