Gerard Irwin Nierenberg (1923â2012) was an American lawyer, author, and expert in negotiation and communication strategy. He founded The Negotiation Institute in 1966 and authored over twenty books on negotiation, communication, and sales techniques, many of which became bestsellers and were translated into multiple languages. He is recognized as the father of contemporary negotiation and pioneered the "everybody wins" or "win-win" negotiation philosophy.
