Edith Wharton
Edith Wharton (1862â1937) was an American author known for her insightful portrayals of upper-class New York society during the Gilded Age. She was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1921 for her novel The Age of Innocence. Wharton also wrote novels, short stories, and nonfiction, often addressing social issues such as divorce and women's sexual freedom.
