Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (1918–2008) was a Russian novelist, historian, and dissident who exposed the Soviet Union's political repression and Gulag labor camp system. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1970 for his ethical literary work. His writings, including The Gulag Archipelago, had a profound impact on global awareness of Soviet totalitarianism.
