Wu Ch'êng-ên

Wu Cheng'en (c. 1500–1582) was a Chinese novelist, poet, and politician of the Ming dynasty. He is widely considered the author of Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. Wu was known for his poetry and prose, and he spent much of his life as a hermit, dissatisfied with the political climate and corruption of his time.
