Walter Tevis

Walter Stone Tevis (1928–1984) was an American novelist and short story writer known for his compelling storytelling and richly drawn characters. He was also a professor of English literature and creative writing at Ohio University. Several of his novels, including The Hustler, The Color of Money, The Man Who Fell to Earth, and The Queen's Gambit, were adapted into major films or television series.
