S.E. Hinton

Susan Eloise Hinton, known as S.E. Hinton, is an American author born in 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is best known for pioneering the young adult (YA) genre with her debut novel The Outsiders, written while she was still in high school. Hinton's works often explore adolescent issues with gritty realism and emotional depth, resonating strongly with young readers. She has received numerous awards, including the inaugural Margaret A. Edwards Award from the American Library Association in 1988 for her lifetime contribution to YA literature.
