Ohiyesa

Charles Alexander Eastman, also known as Ohiyesa, was a Santee Dakota physician, writer, and social reformer born in 1858. He was among the first Native Americans certified in Western medicine and became an important author and activist who sought to bridge Native American and Western cultures. He passed away in 1939.
