Kiese Laymon

Kiese Laymon is a Black southern writer from Jackson, Mississippi, and a professor of English and Creative Writing at Rice University. He is the author of the bestselling memoir Heavy: An American Memoir, the novel Long Division, and the essay collection How to Slowly Kill Yourself and Others in America. Laymon's work explores themes of race, family, trauma, and identity with deep personal insight and social critique.
