Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu

Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu (1814–1873) was an Irish writer renowned for his Gothic tales and mystery novels. He is considered one of the greatest ghost story writers of the Victorian era and significantly influenced the development of supernatural fiction. His family had notable literary connections, including playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan.
