Jonathan Edwards

Jonathan Edwards (1703–1758) was an American revivalist preacher, philosopher, and Congregationalist theologian. He was a central figure in the First Great Awakening and is widely regarded as one of America's most important philosophical theologians. Edwards served as pastor in Northampton, Massachusetts, and later as a missionary to Native Americans in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, where he completed his major work, The Freedom of the Will (1754).
