John Webster

John Webster (c. 1580 – c. 1632) was an English Jacobean dramatist best known for his tragedies The White Devil and The Duchess of Malfi, which are considered masterpieces of early 17th-century English drama. He was a contemporary of William Shakespeare and is noted for his complex characters and poetic language. Webster's life remains largely obscure, but his works have had lasting influence.
