James H. Schmitz

James H. Schmitz (1911–1981) was an American science fiction writer born in Hamburg, Germany to American parents. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and became known for his imaginative storytelling and strong character development, especially his pioneering portrayal of competent and equal female protagonists. His works were frequently published in magazines like Astounding/Analog and Galaxy Science Fiction.
