Hendrik Van Loon

Hendrik Willem van Loon (1882–1944) was a Dutch-American historian, journalist, and children's book author. He was a prolific writer and illustrator, best known for his popular histories aimed at young readers, including the landmark book The Story of Mankind. Van Loon was also a radio commentator, professor, and public intellectual with a wide cultural influence during his lifetime.
