Hendrik Antoon Lorentz (1853â1928) was a Dutch theoretical physicist who shared the 1902 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on the Zeeman effect. He made foundational contributions to electromagnetism, electron theory, and relativity, notably deriving the Lorentz transformations that underpin Einstein's special theory of relativity. Lorentz was a key supporter and collaborator of Albert Einstein.
