Giovanni Boccaccio

Giovanni Boccaccio (1313–1375) was an Italian poet, writer, and scholar, considered one of the foundational figures of Italian literature and a precursor to Renaissance humanism. He is best known for his masterpiece, The Decameron, a collection of 100 tales that vividly portray 14th-century life and human experiences. Boccaccio also wrote significant works in Latin, including biographies of famous men and women, and contributed to the revival of classical literature.
