George Bernard Shaw (1856â1950) was an Irish playwright, critic, and political activist known for his influence on Western theatre and culture. He wrote more than 60 plays, including notable works such as 'Heartbreak House' and 'The Doctor's Dilemma'. Shaw was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1925 and also won an Academy Award for the screenplay of 'Pygmalion'.
