Edward O. Thorp

Edward Oakley Thorp (born August 14, 1932) is an American mathematics professor, author, hedge fund manager, and blackjack researcher. He pioneered modern applications of probability theory, notably inventing card counting to beat blackjack and developing quantitative finance techniques. He also co-created the first wearable computer and has written several influential books.
