Baroness Orczy

Baroness Emmuska Orczy (1865–1947) was a Hungarian-born British novelist and playwright, best known for creating The Scarlet Pimpernel series. She was also a prolific writer of detective stories, including the 'Old Man in the Corner' series. Orczy was educated in art and initially pursued painting before turning to writing to support her family.
