Andrew Carnegie

Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) was a Scottish-American industrialist who led the expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century and became one of the richest Americans in history. He was also a prominent philanthropist, giving away more than 90% of his fortune to public causes such as libraries, education, and the arts. Carnegie is known for his belief that the wealthy have a duty to use their riches to benefit society.
