Yaa Gyasi is a Ghanaian-born American author known for her emotionally powerful novels that explore intergenerational trauma and the African and African American diaspora. She studied English with a creative writing emphasis at Stanford and attended the University of Iowa's Writers Workshop. Her debut novel, Homegoing, received critical acclaim and several awards.
