William Strunk Jr.

William Strunk Jr. (1869–1946) was an American professor of English at Cornell University, best known for writing The Elements of Style in 1918, a concise guide to English usage and composition. He taught English for 46 years and also edited works by Shakespeare, Dryden, and Cooper. His book was later revised and popularized by his former student E. B. White.
