William Kingdon Clifford

William Kingdon Clifford (1845-1879) was a British mathematician and philosopher known for his influential essay "The Ethics of Belief." He was an advocate of evolutionary theory and emphasized the importance of forming beliefs based on sufficient evidence. Clifford was also a professor of applied mathematics at University College London and a member of the Metaphysical Society.
