Voltaire

Voltaire, born François-Marie Arouet (1694–1778), was a French Enlightenment writer, historian, and philosopher known for his wit, criticism of religious and political institutions, and advocacy for civil liberties and freedom of thought. He was a prolific author who wrote plays, poems, novels, essays, and historical works, and was a leading figure in promoting Enlightenment ideals.
