Umberto Eco

Umberto Eco (1932-2016) was an Italian medievalist, philosopher, semiotician, literary critic, and novelist. He was a professor of semiotics at the University of Bologna and became internationally famous for his novel The Name of the Rose. Eco was known for blending intellectual scholarship with engaging storytelling, making complex ideas accessible to a broad audience.
