Sophocles

Sophocles (c. 496–406 BC) was a renowned ancient Greek playwright, famous for his tragedies. He wrote over 120 plays, but only seven have survived completely, including Antigone, Oedipus Rex, and Electra. He was highly respected in Athens, serving in political and military roles, and won numerous awards for his dramatic works.
