Sayaka Murata

Sayaka Murata is a Japanese writer born in 1979, best known for her international bestseller Convenience Store Woman. She has won every major literary prize in Japan, including the Gunzo Prize for New Writers, the Noma Literary New Face Prize, the Mishima Yukio Prize, and the Akutagawa Prize. Murata worked part-time as a convenience store clerk for eighteen years, which inspired much of her writing.
