Pliny The Elder

Pliny the Elder (AD 23–79) was a Roman author, naturalist, and imperial administrator known for his encyclopedic work Natural History, which compiles vast knowledge of the natural world and human knowledge in 37 books. He combined scholarly pursuits with a military and administrative career and died during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
