Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard

Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard (1818–1893) was a Louisiana-born American military officer, politician, inventor, and author. He was the first prominent general of the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War, known for commanding the attack on Fort Sumter and winning the First Battle of Bull Run. Beauregard also served in the Mexican-American War and held various commands throughout the Civil War.
