Jefferson Davis

Jefferson Davis (1808-1889) was an American politician and soldier who served as the only President of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. After the war, he authored The Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government, a detailed two-volume history and defense of the Confederacy. He was deeply involved in the events he described, providing a firsthand account of the Confederacy's formation, struggle, and defeat.
