Jane Smiley

Jane Smiley is an American novelist born in 1949, known for her keen observations of family dynamics and human desires within middle-class America. She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1992 for her novel A Thousand Acres. Smiley has published numerous novels, nonfiction works, and young adult books, and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2001.
