J. Tyrwhitt Brooks

J. Tyrwhitt Brooks was a pseudonym used by Henry Vizetelly, who recounted his experiences during an expedition to the California gold fields in the late 1840s. He was originally apprenticed as a wood engraver and later worked as a correspondent and publisher in Europe.
