Henry Charles Lea

Henry Charles Lea (1825–1909) was an American publisher, civic activist, philanthropist, and historian from Philadelphia. He became a leading authority on the Spanish Inquisition and medieval ecclesiastical history, producing groundbreaking multi-volume works. Lea was also active in political reform and philanthropy in Philadelphia.
