Henrik Ibsen

Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906) was a Norwegian playwright and poet, often called the father of modern realistic drama. Born in Skien, Norway, he experienced a transition from a privileged upbringing to financial hardship in his youth. Ibsen's works challenged societal norms and explored themes such as social class, the role of women, and individualism. He spent much of his life abroad and died in Oslo, Norway, where he was honored with a state funeral.
