Helen Hunt Jackson

Helen Hunt Jackson (1830-1885) was an American poet, novelist, and activist known for her advocacy for Native American rights. She wrote the influential novel Ramona (1884), which dramatized the mistreatment of Native Americans in Southern California, and the nonfiction work A Century of Dishonor (1881), exposing U.S. government policies against Indigenous peoples.
