Deesha Philyaw

Deesha Philyaw is an American author, columnist, and public speaker known for her debut short story collection, The Secret Lives of Church Ladies, which explores the lives of Black women navigating love, sex, family, and faith. She has written extensively on race, gender, and culture, and her work has appeared in major publications such as The New York Times and The Washington Post. Philyaw currently lives in Miami, Florida, and has been recognized as a Kimbilio Fiction Fellow and John and Renée Grisham Writer-in-Residence at the University of Mississippi.
