Charles Willing Beale

Charles Willing Beale (1845-1932) was an American civil engineer, hotel owner, and author known for his works in horror, science fiction, and mystery. He was interested in occult and scientific theories of his time, which he explored through his fiction. His most notable work is The Ghost of Guir House (1897).
