Charles-Louis De Secondat

Charles-Louis de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu (1689–1755) was a French judge, historian, and political philosopher of the Enlightenment. He is best known for his influential work The Spirit of Laws (1748), which analyzed laws, governance, and society and introduced the theory of separation of powers. His ideas significantly influenced the development of modern political theory and the constitutions of many countries, including the United States.
