Anne George

Anne Carroll George (1927-2001) was an American author and poet from Alabama. She was Alabama's State Poet in 1994 and co-founded Druid Press. She was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for her poetry collection Some of It Is True and won the Agatha Award in 1996 for her first Southern Sisters mystery, Murder on a Girls' Night Out. She was a former school teacher who later wrote full-time.
